On August 21, 1955 Mrs. W. H. Russell donated a new pulpit in memory of the late W. H. Russell, Clerk of Session from 1923 to 1954. Friends of Mr. Russell had given money in lieu of flowers at the time of his death - this money was given to the church and used to buy a new pulpit arm chair. The Y.P.U. re-upholstered the side chairs to match. In 1976 the family of the late Howard Lancaster donated five upholstered chairs to be placed at the front of the church.
With the coming of the motor car the church sheds were no longer needed. They were sold by auction in 1946.
Late in 1960 it was decided to drill a well. It was then proposed to build an addition to the north side of the church. Plans and prices were looked into and it was decided to have a kitchen downstairs and a church parlour and washrooms upstairs. Finally on June 29, 1966 the details were arranged and there was a motion to ask Presbytery for approval to build to a maximum of $10,000. It was reported to the annual meeting on January 26, 1967 the building fund expenditure had been $10,447.46.
In August 1967 permission was given the village public school to hold regular day classes in the church hall because a needed addition was being added to the public school.
In January 1971 Presbytery suggested that Navan join the pastoral charge because the Navan- Vars charge was being combined. It was moved to invite them to be part of Cumberland charge again if they so desired. Then on July 1, 1971 the Navan- Vars congregation joined the Cumberland charge.
The church pews were refinished in 1976.
In 1977 extensive repairs were made to the manse and it was' completely redecorated.

The story of St. Andrews can never be fully told apart from the labours of the stalwart hearts who upheld the Church through the years with their prayers, their presence, their gifts and their services. Their memory will shine forever. May those who follow them show a like faithfulness and an ever increasing loyalty to the Church and all for which it stands.
