A NEW LOGO IS LAUNCHED FOR ST. ANDREW’S
|
Long before the disciple Andrew became a Saint he was a simple fisherman who had a heart for Jesus. And his love for his Lord and Saviour made it possible for him to tell others about Christ. One by one Andrew invited people to come and know Jesus and to believe in Him. One by one lives were changed for the better because of the simple invitation of “Come and follow Me”.
Now the congregation has launched our new logo which captures the essence of Jesus’ invitation to Andrew. It is a simple drawing of a boat with the cross as its mast. With the wind of the Holy Spirit filling its sails, the boat pushes forward through the waves. Under the water is the invitation by Jesus, “I will make you fishers of men; come and follow Me.”(Matthew 4:19)
On white letterhead, the cross and water are blue recalling for us the blue and white of St. Andrew’s flag which is the national flag of Scotland where Andrew is the patron Saint. The boat on the water reminds us of our proximity to the Ottawa River.
This pictorial of Christ’s invitation serves to remind all of us of our own calling as a disciple. And as disciples of Jesus we need to follow Andrew’s example of bringing others to Christ. We need to share in his enthusiasm in discovering the Messiah. The Christian church has grown throughout the world on the simple word, ‘Come’. Come, join us. Come, worship God, Come, be free of your sins. Come, find forgiveness. Come, let God be your refuge and strength. Come, serve others. Come, rejoice in Lord!
Come, let us share in the good news of Jesus Christ with others.
