Influenza A (H1N1) Update #2 :

Please be advised that in response to the threat of the Influenza A H1N1    Virus (Swine Flu), the Ministry of Health has commenced implementation of its Pandemic Influenza Preparedness and Response Plan and is following the Caribbean Epidemiology Centre (CAREC) guidelines for laboratory surveillance of infections with the Influenza A H1N1 Virus.

In addition, the Minister of Health has convened meetings of an inter- Ministerial and inter-agency Committee to ensure that all sectors are informed of action to be taken in the event of a suspected case coming to light and to prevent the spread of the virus should a case of infection be confirmed. As additional measures, passengers entering Trinidad and Tobago will be requested to complete an Acute Respiratory Illness Surveillance Declaration Form. Influenza A H1N1 Alert Cards will also be distributed.
