Indian & Northern Affairs Canada and a member of the
House Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs; during a time of unprecedented national attention
to issues like the Oka Stand-off and Constitutional Negotiations [1988-1993]. I was his Legislative Assistant & Press Secretary, responsible for preparing lines of questioning and speech notes; briefing the M.P., other Caucus members, and the Federal Party Leader; liaison with aboriginal political organizations; handling media relations; drafting policy correspondence; and resolving constituents' problems with federal government agencies. I also served as Executive Assistant to Jack Harris (M.P. St. John's East) [1987-88] and Legislative Assistant to Cyril Keeper (M.P. Winnipeg North Centre; Canada Post Critic) [1985-86]. |
