Protect Your Voice Mail Password
If a thief learns your voice mail password, they can listen to your personal voice messages, or even change your password and take over your voice mailbox for their own purposes. |

You can take the following steps to prevent this from happening to you: |
| Attempt to memorize your voice mail password. Recognize the risk in writing it down or programming it into an autodialer button on your phone, since the password is valuable information to a criminal. | |
| Do not use simple passwords such as '22222' or '1234'. Do not use your telephone number or street address as your voice mail password. Such passwords are easily guessed by thieves. | |
| Use lengthy passwords. A 7 or 8 digit password is much more difficult to guess than a 4 digit password (a 7 digit password offers 10,000,000 different combinations). |
