The VOBOC foundation is a non-profit, federally incorporated charitable organization offering free diversions for cancer patients.
The VOBOC Foundation exists to assist, materially and financially, oncology patients within cancer treatment centers who wish to have an opportunity to venture out and enjoy activities beyond their cancer.
Located in Montreal, VOBOC currently offers two free services to cancer patients receiving active cancer treatment (chemotherapy, radiotherapy and/or palliative care) at the three adult sites of the McGill University Healthcare Centre (MUHC):the Montreal General, the Montreal Neurological and the Royal Victoria Hospitals and last fall VOBOC introduced its services to adult oncology patients receiving treatment at the Lakeshore General Hospital.
Since receiving its federal charity status in 2002 VOBOC has awarded out more than $40,000.00 worth of free venturing out activities and gift-certificates to oncology patients and VOBOC has granted dozens of Special Requests to patients with advanced cancer.
VOBOC plans to bring its two free services (venturing out avtivities and Special requests) into more cancer treatment centres as quickly as resources permit. Our long term goal is to offer our free services to oncology patients right across Canada.
